Captiveworks Cw-800s Remote Manual
I purchased a brand new CW800s receiver and the remote is not functioning at all. I put the codes in the remote for my Sony DVD player and nothing happened. Also I put different batteries, but no help. I tried to reset the receiver a few times but nothing again. The remote has power because STB light blinks when power and other buttons are pressed.

I know this sounds like it wont work but, if you have a camera (camera phones can work to) watch the top of the remote through the camera, press the power button and the bulb at the top of the remote should flash (you can only see this through a camera) if it is flashing you have no problem and it should work. However, if it does not flash. Give the top of the remote where the bulb is a little tap, trust me. If you dont know what flash you are suppose to look for, face a working tv remote to your camera and press the power button, you should then realise what flash to look for.
When you get the flash, point it towards your reciever and it should work fine. If after a while of 'tapping' it still does not work then stop.
Remember you dont want to damage it further. IMPORTANT NOTE: If you are not getting any LED lights on your remote, its probably just a battery change it needs!!! Posted on May 13, 2009. Had the same problem. I took the remote apart and the sensor bulb had come apart from the solder on one side. Didn't even have to add more solder, just heated it up with a soldering gun.
Works like a charm. I did use my movie camera to test. What a great idea to save time back and forth to the tv.I had found another trouble shooting method, which might work if the solder is not loose.
Take out the batteries, hit all buttons on remote twice and them reinstall fresh batteries. Hope this works for ya!!!! Posted on May 21, 2009.
